Our surrogacy program in Albania makes the impossible possible.

Surrogacy in albania

Who can undertake a programme with an albania surrogacy agency?

In this country the following persons can carry out surrogacy procedures:

  • Married heterosexual couples, without the need to prove medical problems.
  • Unmarried heterosexual couples, without the need to prove medical problems.
  • Gay couples
  • Single men.
The surrogacy laws in albania

The surrogacy laws in albania

The law on surrogacy in Albania

Under the established surrogacy laws in albania, specifically Law 8876 (dated 4.4.2002) concerning Reproductive Health, Article 43 formally recognises the gestational process as a valid and legal technique of assisted reproduction. However, the state did not subsequently develop further restrictive regulations.

Therefore, these arrangements can be carried out completely legally in the country, exactly as they have been successfully managed for the last 4 years. Often, Albania emerges as the most sensible option for economic reasons, as the clinical programmes cost less than half the total budget required for a comparable programme in the USA or Canada. This immense financial accessibility has transformed it into the preferred destination for many European intended parents.

One of the primary advantages that our albania surrogacy agency can offer here relates to the pricing structures, which are significantly cheaper than those found in the United States. The geographical proximity to the United Kingdom also means that many British couples naturally opt for this accessible destination when planning to carry out their journey.

As is standard in the vast majority of regulated jurisdictions, the arrangement carried out here is strictly gestational (or total) surrogacy. This means the gestational carrier does not provide any of her own genetic material, a practice which is expressly prohibited in most countries offering these processes.

The genetic material is either provide by the intended parents or by a donor. When we resort to a donor, the donor can only be an egg donor, since in this country there is no court ruling, paternity is determine by filiation, and the father must prove his biological relationship with the baby. The donor can be anonymous or chosen.

Gestlife is the only company in the sector that has contracted civil liability insurance with the prestigious North American insurance company HISCOX, which also has a presence in Europe. This civil liability insurance covers up to US$1 million per client in the event that Gestlife causes unintentional damages due to errors or omissions in specific work (medical, legal) to people who have contracted Gestlife’s services, paying the compensation and legal expenses for which it is responsible.

In January 2026, the company WORLD CENTER OF BABY, which had no physical presence or offices in the countries it served, officially declared bankruptcy, leaving hundreds of parents stranded. Without their children. Without the money they had paid. And WORLD CENTER OF BABY did not have liability insurance to cover those amounts.

If you speak to more agencies, ask them if they have liability insurance, and if they say yes, ask them to tell you which company, show you the policy, and the last paid receipt.

Once the birth has taken place, the intended parents must register the baby in the civil registry. To do this, a birth certificate issued by the clinic must be provide. In the certificate issued by the civil registry in Tirana, both the commissioning father and the surrogate appear.

At the same time, we will obtain a waiver from the surrogate, which we may need later in our country of origin if we want the baby to be adopt by our partner or spouse.

Operating as a leading albania surrogacy agency, we have witnessed how Albania has firmly come to replace Russia on the global map for these processes (following Russia’s decision to ban the procedure for foreign nationals on 14.12.2023).

Crucially, the surrogacy laws in albania do not require any medical certificates proving the reasons that prevent a heterosexual couple from gestating naturally, and they openly allow single men and homosexual couples to safely pursue parenthood.

Our staff will assist you in our office in Tirana (Albania) in your language (Spanish, French, Italian, German, English, Portugal). In a process where legal issues are mixed with medical issues, it is important to speak the same language and to understand each other. With Gestlife, you will never feel like a stranger in a foreign country. Even the contracts are in your language, something that only Gestlife guarantees.

It seems obvious, and with some agencies you may be lucky enough to speak to a consultant in your language, but as soon as you sign the contract, the rest of the staff don’t speak it, and you will have to defend yourself in English, or in another language, with translators. Make sure if you talk to other agencies that this will not happen. A year and a half (the length of a process) having to speak in other languages, for something so complex and important, is very stressful.

Gestlife has its own office in this country. We are not intermediaries. We are not a company that does not have an office in the country, that uses an intermediary in another country, and in the country where the process takes place, they have an external collaborator. Too many intermediaries.

Gestlife has lawyers in its office in Tirana (Albania), to assist you throughout the process.

Most “agencies” finish their work when they hand over the baby to you. Others help you to leave the country, but then it is up to you to register your baby in your country of origin.

At Gestlife we have a network of lawyers in all countries, so that they can take care of the final procedure in your country of origin, allowing you to register your child without any problems. We accompany you all the way.

We do our best to make the surrogacy process a pleasure trip, not a nightmare. But there can always be setbacks, which can endanger the commissioning parents (illness, accident, setbacks with the airlines etc…).

Gestlife takes care of managing your travel assistance insurance, to guarantee complete assistance in the event of any incident, and we take care of managing and organizing all the services related to this issue, so that you don’t have to worry about it.

Our philosophy is to take care of the parents 24 hours a day.

A surrogacy procedure in Albania costs between 74,000 and 95,000 euros, depending on the program chosen.

In all our countries, you can sign up for the following programs:

  • BASIC
  • STANDARD
  • STANDARD PLUS
  • STANDARD PLUS PREMIUM

You can consult the services included in each program in the dossiers for each country. Ask your family advisor for them, with no obligation whatsoever.

Gestlife is one of the few agencies that have programs for parents who test positive for HIV, Hepatitis or sexually transmitted diseases. Nowadays, this is not an impediment to parenthood. If this is your case, consult your family counsellor, and we will be happy to help you.

Advantages
  • It is less than two hours by plane from the main European capitals, making surrogacy in albania for uk citizens highly accessible.
  • Flight tickets are highly economical (typically ranging from 80 to 150 euros for a round trip). • The clinical procedures are handled by a highly prestigious Turkish clinic partnered with our albania surrogacy agency.
  • Delivery takes place safely in a premium private hospital (American hospital)
Inconveniences
  • As is common in all processes across Europe, the gestational carrier must come from another country. Currently, there is a general shortage of eligible surrogates internationally, which can occasionally delay the recruitment and matching phase for any albania surrogacy agency
